Cali Yuga uses eastern and western mythology and iconography to examine the current reframing of our bodies and language by the contemporary technology.
Cali Yuga II leans on my research into ancient mythologies and contemporary semiotic symbols. The print has been double printed with two opposing colors which are purposely offset in an effect influenced by the now defunct anagyph technology. This earthquake-like effect symbolizes our collective understanding that humanity is now at a tipping point, an acknowledgement that despite our advancements nothing will stop us from dissolving into the ether like our ancestors.
These prints take their name from the Hindu cycle or era, Kali Yuga, which is said to be the age of destruction and choas - in which, according to ancient texts, we now exist.
Cali Yuga anaglyph drypoint etching was included in the second Binder of Women folio, 2019
